MockUp Buddy is a Chrome extension that helps users create article and social media mock-ups by editing page text, replacing visible media areas, switching views, and exporting screenshots as PNG files.

This Privacy Policy explains what information MockUp Buddy collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

1. Information we collect

MockUp Buddy is designed to work locally in your browser.

The extension may access the active webpage you choose to use it on so that it can:

  • edit visible text on the page

  • overlay replacement images on selected media areas

  • switch the page between desktop and mobile preview modes

  • export the visible page area as a PNG

  • display the trial watermark during the free trial

MockUp Buddy does not upload, sell, or share the contents of the webpages you edit.

2. Information stored locally

MockUp Buddy stores limited information locally in your browser, including:

  • your selected platform mode, such as Article, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or X

  • your free trial action count

  • basic subscription status, such as whether your account is active or unpaid

  • temporary extension settings needed for the tool to work

This information is used only to operate the extension, manage the free trial, and unlock paid features.

3. Payment and subscription information

MockUp Buddy uses ExtensionPay to manage subscriptions and payment status.

Payments are processed through Stripe. MockUp Buddy does not receive or store your full card number, banking details, or payment credentials.

ExtensionPay and Stripe may process information needed to manage payments, subscriptions, fraud prevention, invoices, receipts, and customer support. Stripe provides payment processing and privacy information through its own privacy materials.

4. Trial watermark

During the free trial, MockUp Buddy may add a visible watermark to edited pages:

Created with MockUp Buddy

This watermark is added locally in your browser and is used to identify free trial mock-ups. Paid users have the watermark removed.

5. Permissions used by the extension

MockUp Buddy requests Chrome permissions only to provide its core features.

The extension may use permissions including:

  • activeTab: to work on the webpage the user is currently editing

  • scripting: to apply text edits, media overlays and watermarks to the active page

  • tabs: to identify and update the active tab and open selected platform websites

  • downloads: to export the visible mock-up as a PNG

  • debugger: to provide mobile view emulation

  • storage: to support subscription and trial information

These permissions are used only to operate MockUp Buddy’s features.

6. What we do not do

MockUp Buddy does not:

  • sell user data

  • use user data for advertising

  • track browsing history for marketing

  • collect passwords or payment card details

  • upload edited webpages to our own servers

  • share mock-up content with advertisers

7. Third-party services

MockUp Buddy may use the following third-party services:

  • ExtensionPay: subscription management and licence status

  • Stripe: secure payment processing

  • Google Chrome APIs: extension functionality such as active tab access, scripting, downloads and storage

These third parties process data according to their own privacy policies and terms.

8. Data security

MockUp Buddy is designed to keep mock-up editing local to your browser.

Where third-party services are used for payment or subscription management, those services are responsible for securely processing the relevant payment and account information.

Chrome Web Store policy requires extensions that handle personal or sensitive user data to post a privacy policy and handle data securely, including secure transmission where data is transmitted.

9. Data retention

Local trial and subscription settings may remain in your browser until you uninstall the extension, clear browser data, or reset the extension.

Payment and subscription data is retained by ExtensionPay and Stripe according to their own policies and legal obligations.

10. Your choices

You can:

  • uninstall MockUp Buddy at any time

  • cancel your subscription through the payment or subscription management flow
